When we were coming up with the original idea for our film, Alex brough the tv show ‘Pete Vs Life’ and he was quite adamant about doing something like it and since we couldn’t think of anything else we decided to go with the idea. We did a short questionnaire for people to give us some feedback on what they thought of the idea and if they would be interested in seeing it, most people seemed interested and said they would watch it. We also asked people how they would go about seeing a short film and we found that most people would use the internet as they didn’t know where else to find them, some also commented saying that they have seen adverts on Channel 4 for Short Films but have never looked further into it.
Whilst we were scripting and filming we constantly looked back over our work to make sure that the audience would understand it and that it wasn’t all over the place an hard to follow, we did this by using slow camera work such as slow pans and slow zooming in rather than quick camera work which can be seen in action films during fight/chase scenes. This is also shown in our editing when we have used slow transitions subtle effects to keep to the style of a documentary.
Once we finished filming and editing I made questionnaires for both the film and radio trailer which can be seen on the blog along with a link to the spreadsheet with the results. They showed that the people who filled out the questionnaire liked the film but not many people filled it in due to it not been shared that much by the group. We didn’t do a questionnaire about the poster or ask others because we all liked it and our tutor said it was good and didn’t mention anything that needed improving.
The main thing that we gained from the audience feedback is that Alex’s voice was too muffled/mumbled and was hard to understand, If we made this film again I would cast someone else to do the voiceover/narration so it could be easily understood by the audience.
